I agree with “The Master. Though I recently upgraded to Elements 11, I couldn’t wait for a new edition of this book, so I bought the most recent version. It’s just fine. I didn’t need to get any additional downloader. I always “just say no” to that stuff. My computer balked a little at the large files, but I discovered that by pressing pause on the download and then pressing resume, the download completed very easily.
The workflow for each project is well laid out, and options presented within the context. Though I’m only on Project 4, I’m sure this will be a great reference book when I want to create photos with powerful impact. Even though I am was a user of Elements 5, I really never figured out all of the nuances. I could do basic things but nothing out of hte ordinary. With this book, I have already learned a lot, not the least that I can use the raw editor to deal with jpegs. The lassoo works so much better than the one in elements 5.
I have taken loads of pictures yet this winter but will love exploring everything that Elements 10 can do. The book has loads of pictures and is well written. What I like about this book and its associated web material is how useful it’s been to improving my practical knowledge of Elements I could either work through exercises with the book, or with a video.
Introducing Adobe Camera Raw was a great bonus for me. This book is very short and to the point. Each lesson is well thought out and easy to understand. When I purchase any new Adobe Photoshop Elements program, in this case it was Elements 10, the first thing I look for is the Mark Galer book to accompany any new issue of that software. Well this is it and as usual I am not disappointed.
Unfortunately he has now realised regretfully , that extra dosh can be obtained from leaving out his once accompanying outstanding Dvd which was cramped packed with each book’s examples, and was issued free with each book on previous occasions.
That Dvd used to follow each book’s tutorials chapter by chapter. The Dvd would also supply the many free ‘actions’ which now have to be purchased direct from his website. As stated it had previously come FOC which had always made Galer’s books outstanding value. As I follow the book examples to the letter which makes me think that I am as good at Elements as he is I wish!
It’s just that it all used to all be on a single Dvd that you could load and view any time. As usual Mr Galer explains Elements with a professionalism and clarity that any average guy can understand but be mindful that his book is not for anyone that does not have an awareness of what the powerful Adobe Elements program can do.
This is is not a book for the beginner. This is not a book that explains the basics of the Elements software. This book is more for the person that prefers to manipulate their photographs but tinkering with colour, toning, borders, gradients, masking and so on. This book is all about fantastic, and I really do mean fantastic, tutorials. Galer who also has many brilliant examples of his videos on YouTube which are all very compulsive viewing. Yes absolutely brilliant book and that’s why I purchased not only the actual book but got the Kindle version as well for our iPad.

Verified Purchase. I have been using the various incarnations of Adobe Photoshop for the last 7 years. While the ability to process digital images is second to none in Adobe’s flagship Creative Suite Photoshop and it’s sister applications, unless you’re a professional photographer, or an intensely dedicated amateur the price tag is a major deterrent to buying the whole suite.

Not at all. He wasn’t wrong and I’m grateful for his advice. Elements 10 handles all of the processes one might ask of it I’d had an old version of Photoshop elements on my old computer and found it easy to use and very effective in its capabilities. On my new computer I tried a copy of the Corel photo-adjusting software. Maybe I didn’t give it enough time to get used to it, but found it non-intuitive in the applications and tools. More annoying was that when I closed the prog down, a pop-up appeared requesting I agree to updates.
I didn’t want any and tried to close the pop-up window, but it was disabled. The ‘X’ failed to close it. Even closing down the computer left the Corel message hanging on until the Cntrl-Alt-Delete death blow. I’m now back with Photoshop elements and very happy. One person found this helpful. Great bit of software as usual. If you are of a certain age and can’t spare another 20 years to fully assimilate to the full version of Photoshop then this is for you.
It does all most would want to do. I’ve been using it since version 3.
