What’s even more annoying is that each time someone posts a valid question on this forum, someone tagged as “Microsoft” makes that useless generic “install updates, run scan, error message? Year, i have the strictly same issue and there is no working fix for 1,5 years of my search here and any other places. I use the Sleep Mode on my PC and don’t need to reboot it so often. But in case of reboot the Quick Launch toolbar can randomly dissapear. And yes, Microsoft answers are only “install, sfc scan, dism” and nothing else.

I did all of this and more else – no effect. Maybe not many users use the old Quick Launch or experienced such problem, so we can’t see any usefull workaround or fix from Microsoft Seems to me that it should be easy to create a Quick Launch toolbar that does not “disappear”.

Create a new folder in your data partition or folder called Quick Launch. Add shortcuts to it by dragging and dropping. Then create new toolbar click right in taskbar, toolbars , point to your Quick Launch folder. Then if you want, move it to the left of the task bar. If you lock the taskbar, it should stay there. Even if you don’t lock it, it only occasionally will accidentally get moved from the left, and is easy enough to restore.

I cannot see any reason why it should ever disappear accidentally, but maybe I am missing something. My desktop is as below with Quick Launch and Start both shown.

You may think Start is irrelevant given the W10 start window, but I still find it useful. The only workaround I’ve found is to restore the language bar to the desktop. That’s not ideal. Until a few weeks ago, I could have the language bar and quick launch bar together on the taskbar with no problems. The quick launch bar has been disappearing consistently since the so-called Fall Creators’ Update. If I put the language bar in the top right corner of my screen, it integrates into the title bar of old-style programs, like Word With the stupid and ugly new MS design, as in office , there’s no title bar, so it just sits on top of the program’s buttons minimize, maximize, etc.

Choose where you want to search below Search Search the Community. This automatically hides desktop icons, including the Recycle Bin. Switch off the option Hide app icons on the taskbar in tablet mode. Clicking Power in the Start menu usually lets you restart or shut down your PC or put it in Sleep mode. The simplest solution to missing power options is to run the Windows 10 Power troubleshooter.

Type troubleshooter in the Start menu search bar and click Troubleshoot settings. When the Troubleshoot screen opens, click Additional troubleshooters , select Power , and click Run the troubleshooter. Windows will then check for power problems and hopefully suggest a fix to apply or apply it automatically.

Type regedit in the Start menu search box and press Enter to open the Registry Editor. Open Tablet mode settings as per the previous steps. From there, turn off the Hide app icons on the taskbar in tablet mode button. As indicated, this error could be caused by corrupt system files. This will scan your PC for corrupt or missing system files. But first, you need to run the DISM tool. Type the following command and press Enter:. Instead it places the shortcut into the Explorer folder organizer.

For some that is fine but many quick launch geeks want the icons directly on the taskbar. Thankfully, there is a way to bring back the quick launch toolbar. The quick launch toolbar will now be displayed but you will need to move it to the correct location on the taskbar.
